Scrapbook Size...8 1/2 x 11 versus 12 x 12 One size isn't really "better" than the other...what is a "pro" for one is essentially a "con" for the other. It really just comes down to personal preference and what your priorities are. The 8 1/2 x 11 size still seems to be the most popular. Printed papers in hundreds of designs, as well as prepackaged kits, are all available for this page size. Things that you print right from your printer can become a page, which is handy if you have software that prints photo album pages, as I do. Albums, pages, and page protectors are not only available in craft stores, but are also available at office supply stores and some discount stores, such as Wal-Mart. The main disadvantage to this size is that the smaller page size doesn't allow for as many pictures to be placed on the page, and some memorabilia, you may find, doesn't fit at all. The 12 x 12 size seems to be gaining popularity, especially for "special occasion" albums, such as weddings and baby albums. The larger page size allows for more photos per page and more creative layouts, and they seem to have a more "elegant" feel to them. However, supplies may be more difficult to get in your area. I prefer 12 x 12 myself, but it's almost worth it to stick with the smaller albums, just to be able to get everything I need without having to mailorder! It really is, as I said before, a matter of personal preference. But if having supplies readily available is your top priority, check in your area first, or you may find yourself "itching" to make a page, and not able to do it because your 12 x 12 supplies haven't been shipped yet!
